Live Music Photography: Slaves | Gorilla Manchester
In a busy day of photography we spent most of our time in Manchester. We began in Liverpool for some press photography at Liverpool VW Commercial Vehicles. After that it was over to Manchester to photograph Jessica Ennis-Hill’s comeback in the Manchester Great CityGames, now in it’s seventh year. We were officially accredited for the event and provided images to the major news wires.
Once we had finished all the athletics photography we made our way to Gorilla to photograph Slaves. It was a sell out crowd and the atmosphere was buzzing! Being a smaller venue means that there is no ‘pit’ so photography is from the audience which brings with it some challenges! Apart from keeping one eye through the lens on the subject it’s important to keep a close eye on the odd crowd surfer or two! Thankfully Gorilla has a balcony at the back of the venue so some nice photos can be obtained from this elevated viewpoint. Being in the crowd does have the advantage of creating some intimate photos with lots of interaction from the crowd. Between us we managed to get some nice photos of Slaves live at Gorilla, Manchester.
